How to Streamline Your Social Media Workflow with Text Replacement

If you’re like me, you don’t want to spend any additional minutes building your social media account than you have to. Each minute I spend on social is a minute away from business strategy & money-making activities. And even more importantly, each minute I spend on social is a minute away from my family.

So I’m all about efficiency when I’m on Instagram for my business. And I’ve come up with some pretty sneaky (and easy!) ways to save a lot of time on social media. Let’s chat links.

Have you ever found yourself repeatedly typing out the same links for your business on social media? Or trying to go into your notes app to copy and paste it into your Instagram stories sticker?

It’s time-consuming and frustrating. I have the perfect solution that has saved me SO much time on my social media pages: text replacement.

Text replacement is a feature that allows you to create shortcuts for frequently used phrases or hyperlinks. Essentially, you create a “secret password” that, when typed, automatically expands into the full link or phrase. It’s incredibly handy and a major time-saver!

Here’s how you can set it up on your iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Navigate to General: Tap on General.
  3. Find Text Replacement: Select Text Replacement.

From there, you can create shortcuts for any text you frequently use. For business owners, here are some of the most useful links to set up:

  • Lead Magnet/Freebie: Quickly share your free resources.
  • Digital Courses: Provide easy access to your online courses.
  • Group Coaching Waitlist: Link to your coaching program’s sign-up page.
  • Calendly/Discovery Calls: Simplify scheduling with a direct link.
  • Your Website: Direct followers to your homepage or specific pages.
  • Booking Link or Intake Form: Make it effortless for clients to book your services.

Why It Matters for Social Media

When you use these shortcuts, you eliminate the need to hunt down links or waste time copying and pasting. Instead, with just a few taps of your keyboard, you can instantly share the links that are vital to your business operations. 

For example, I have a shortcut called linksquad and every time I type it and hit the space bar, it expands into the link for the Success Squad Wait List. I NEVER have to leave social media to go fetch that link. It appears with less than 1 second of my time!

When I type linkdisco it expands into a hyperlink to my Discovery Call page on Calendly. Linkstrategy expands into a link to my One-Time Strategy Calls I offer. I use these links all. the. time. 

This small change can save you loads of frustration and time, making your social media management much more efficient.
