Why You’re Not Making Sales in Your Business

Struggling to make consistent sales? It might be because your offer isn’t clear. Here’s why you need to choose your ONE THING – and how to do it.

I see this all the time as a business coach:

Someone books a one-time strategy call and says,
“Help! I’m not making sales!”

So I head to their Instagram or website and within 30 seconds I can tell exactly why they’re broke.

I have NO clue what they sell

Their bio says something vague like “Empowering women to live their best life.”

Their grid is a mix of Canva quotes, podcast selfies, and launch recaps for 3 different things.

Their link-in-bio leads to five offers that sound like five different businesses.

And when I go to their website to look at their services?

I see a list like this:

  • VA
  • Life coach
  • Launch strategist
  • Copywriter
  • Tech tool expert
  • Social media manager
  • Brand template creator

No wonder they’re not making sales!

Could this be you, too?

If you’re working hard, showing up consistently, but no one is buying, let’s talk about this. Could it be because…

  • No one knows what problem you solve
  • No one sees you as an expert in one main thing
  • No one remembers what you’re known for

If you want to make good, consistent money, you have to be known for something (meaning one thing).

The Marketplace Rewards Clarity

People do not buy confused.

If your offer is fuzzy or you have tons of offers for random things…

If your message is scattered or your content is all over the map…

If you keep pivoting without sticking to anything (or worse, adding more and more things  you can do to your “work with me” page)…

I can almost guarantee you: you will be the last person someone thinks to hire.

You are not Amazon.

You don’t have the brand equity to be everything to everyone.

You need a single lane with a clear result.

But What If I Have Multiple Interests?

Totally normal. So do I.

In fact, it’s actually RARE for an entrepreneur not to be multi-passionate.

Does that surprise you?

Every time I’m on a call with someone new to working with me, they say it with pride and a big smile on their face… like they just let me in on the world’s biggest, most amazing secret:

“I can’t have just one thing. You see… [dramatic pause], I’m multipassionate!!!”

No. Way.

Because same.

Being multi passionate does not let you off the hook. You still need to choose one, main thing to specialize in. Failure to recognize this – and do this- means you’re not going to crack the code in business.

You can always add new things… once you’ve built the one main thing to great, big business. There are about 7 more businesses I want to start. But I’m waiting to build Walk Like Warriors into the vision I see for it (which will probably take another 10 years) and then, when it’s purring along just fine, I’ll add the next thing. But only then.

But trying to grow 5 things at once?

I don’t want to do it but I’m going to pull this car: I’ve worked in 40+ industries over the span of 25+ years and I have never (not even once) seen a business owner succeed who was offering multiple random services or building multiple businesses at the same time.

You simply cannot monetize 7 revenue streams all at once without a strong foundation.

You have to choose one.

Then build your marketing, messaging, and offer suite around that.

When you get known for something, then you can layer.

But right now? You’re building a business, not a buffet of passion projects.

Clarity Makes You Money

When your offer is simple:

  • Your content flows easier and then
  • Your offer is clearer and then
  • Your sales process is faster

What you want is for people to be able to say: “Oh yeah, she’s the one who helps with ________.” Basically, you need to be known for something. You need to be known for one thing.

Russell Brunson is known for funnels.

Amy Porterfield is known for digital courses.

Apple is known for simplicity.

When you are known for one thing, that’s how sales come in.

And that’s how you scale.
